Dong Energy plans construction of Burbo Bank Extension Danish energy group Dong Energy has chosen to construct the offshore wind farm Burbo Bank Extension located 8 km off the United Kingdom coast in Liverpool Bay. The project is the first of three projects for which Dong Energy was awarded Final Investment Decision Enabling contracts (Contract for Difference) by the UK Government in April this year. Burbo Bank Extension will consist of 32 MHI Vestas Offshore Wind V164-8.0MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 258MW and is expected to be commissioned in 2017. With the Contract for Difference, the Danish company will receive a fixed price per MWh of electricity produced for the first 15 years of operation following which DONG Energy will receive the market price.
