School of Public Health 500+ connectionsSend a messageEndorseMore options Background Summary I am Georges Ki-Zerbo, a Medical Doctor and lecturer in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine, Epidemiology and International Public Health with more than 25 years of experience in clinical, lecturing, research writing and international work related to infectious diseases/tropical medicine. I am a member of the Burkina Faso, South African HIV Clinicians, African Infectious Diseases, ASTMH, RSTMH and other scholarly bodies. I authored numerous publications on malaria, leprosy, trypanosomiasis, HIV, tuberculosis, Rift Valley Fever etc. I joined the WHO in 2004 at the Regional Office for Africa and worked first as Regional Adviser for HIV Care and Treatment (March 2004-November 2006), then as acting WHO representative in Equatorial Guinea (November 2006 to March 2007) and since March 2007 as Malaria Programme Manager. In January 2012 I was assigned to coordinate the WHO/AFRO Communicable Diseases Program Area including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Since September 2013, I coordinate the WHO/AFRO Inter-country Support Team for Central Africa and report to the Regional Director. I am committed to the acceleration of infectious disease control through equitable universal access to evidence based, quality and cost-effective interventions. I believe that advocacy for harmonization and alignment of all stakeholders is critical for efficient scale-up of proven strategies and tools to reduce the intolerable disease burden and mitigate threats to future success. I look forward to make a significant contribution to foster constructive dialogue with partners in order to build a strong planning, implementation monitoring evaluation and research capacity for health and development.
