If the sustainable community were serious about the issues, they would be demanding that energy companies not only report on the money profit being generated by the exploitation of natural resources, but also should be putting a money cost on the depletion of the planet's natural resources (maybe using the cost of renewable equivalent as the number) and they should also be putting a money cost on the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the consumption of the energy that make available. These numbers make the fossil fuel based energy industry a lot less 'profitable' than Bloomberg news stories would have everyone believe. It is time for some radical reform of the metrics being used.
