AlJazeera America is good news for the American TV viewer ... but for long time AlJazeera English enthusiasts, it is a disaster

I have been an enthusiast for AlJazeera English (AJE) for several years. I guess when AJE hired David Frost from BBC, it became clear that AJE was aiming for high standards and my assessment has been that AJE has become far and away the best global news organization.

Though AJE was not available on TV in the United States, the deep reporting of AJE was available through the AJE website on the Internet. The live stream was good, but the huge archive of important stories about every country on the planet was a magnificent resource.

Since AlJazeera America launched in August, access to the AJE website in the United States has been blocked. Bluntly put, I am fighting mad about this.

Two problems exist:

1. I live in a location (Zip code 18324 in Pennsylvania) that does not carry AlJazeera America ... and may not do so for a very long time
2. Compared to the AJE website, the Aljazeera America website is puny, albeit pretty. I am not into pretty ... I respect depth in global information
