Joe Nocera
Joe Nocera is a New York Times Op-Ed columnist. Before joining The Opinion Pages in April 2011, he wrote the Talking Business column for The New York Times each Saturday and was a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine. In addition to his work at The Times, he serves as a regular business commentator for NPR’s Weekend Edition with Scott Simon. Mr. Nocera’s column ranges widely over the world of business and finance, with a particular focus on the intersection of business and public policy. Greg Lipper
Greg Lipper joined Staples, Inc. as the Vice President of Global Business Services (GBS) in April 2012. He has responsibility for Business Process Transformation across Staples. The mission of GBS is to drive improvements in business performance and efficiency through operational & process excellence, and global & scalable delivery models. GBS includes a team of Master Black Belts, a BPO team, an ITO Team, Procurement Operations and several shared services functions.

Before joining Staples, Greg spent fifteen years with Fidelity Investments, where he last served as SVP of Operations Support Services. Greg’s tenure at Fidelity included two years as SVP Operations in Fidelity’s offices in Bangalore, India.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Greg has a BA from Concordia University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Greg enjoys mountain climbing, skiing, and yoga.


Eric Hochstein
Managing Director of Highstone Associates, Inc., advises companies, organizations and governments around the world on sourcing and location strategies, international business and economic development strategies and tactics, marketing and corporate strategy, and new product development and market entry.

Hochstein offers insights and delivers solutions based on more than 25 years of global experience in leadership positions with technology, software, and telecommunications companies, as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies, and as a legislative assistant to members of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate.

He has an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Georgetown University and a BA in Government from Oberlin College.


Kirk Laughlin is an award-winning editor and subject expert in information technology and offshore BPO/ IT business strategies and shared services. He is founder of the popular online media brand “Nearshore Americas” which examines the powerful emergence of Latin America-driven outsourcing services. He has emerged as one of the foremost thought-leaders on the expansion of cross-border trade and investment in business services exports in the Western Hemisphere.

Fernando Fabre In February 2011, Fernando assumed the role of president of Endeavor Global. Immediately prior, he was the Managing Director of Endeavor Mexico since 2004 and a part-time faculty professor of Entrepreneurship at Anahuac University. In 2002 he and his mentor and professor Dr. Richard L. Smith were appointed by Mexico President Vicente Fox under the Partnership for Prosperity Program to develop a set of guidelines to build an entrepreneurial culture in Mexico. Among these guidelines were recommendations that helped shape the creation of the Mexican association of venture capital funds; the creation of Fondo Pyme (a US$600m a year government program to support SMEs); and more recently the creation of a US$50m a year program to launch SME IPOs in the Mexican Bolsa (stock market). Alfredo Pacheco CEO, MexicoIT, has more than 15 years of professional experience in the IT sector. Prior to MexicoIT, Pacheco was COO at CANIETI, the private sector organism that represents the interests of the Mexican High Tech Industry. He was also Chief of Staff at the Underministry of Industry and Trade of the Economics Ministry, Mexican Federal Government and Head of Economic Planning at the IRS of the Finance Ministry, Mexican Federal Government. Rudy Ganna President of Pyhex Enterprises and CEO of Laurus International Enterprises, LLC. The group has grown rapidly to over $20M US with an expected growth rate for 2014 of more than 100%. Rudy Ganna received his technical education in Electro-Chemistry and Biology in Switzerland. Rudy was a freelance marketing consultant for 8 years before founding, together with a Partner, in 1985, OmniTicket Network which has grown to 5 branches in Italy, France, UK, US and Germany and over 200 employees.
Fred Snow Fred Snow is Senior Vice President of Group Sales and Business Development for the Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) division within Xerox Business Services. In this role, he’s accountable for the global growth of the organization and directs sales, marketing, architecture and design, pricing, analytics, and pursuit management. Snow joined the company in January 2002 as senior vice president, Commercial Systems. He’s been a key contributor to the business unit’s growth and success, and is one of the companies most well-versed professionals in identifying and implementing a successful outsourcing solution. During his tenure, the organization has signed contracts with notable clients such as McDonald’s, Disney, Ingram Micro, MWV, Hallmark and Schneider Electric. Prior to joining the company, Snow led other teams to great success, most notably as senior vice president of sales for Tech Data Corporation and as executive vice president of worldwide field operations for Adobe Systems Inc. Both organizations experienced rapid and profitable growth under his leadership. Snow also served as CEO for several start-up companies, as a venture capitalist and as consultant to major corporations such as Phillips and AST. A native of England, his work has taken him to Europe, Asia and Latin America. Snow earned a bachelor’s degree in physics with special honors from the University of London. He subsequently obtained graduate qualifications in electrical engineering and attended the London Business School’s Executive Development Program. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Board of the San Jose Repertory Theater, the Board of Trustees for the University of San Francisco School of Education, and the boards of several technology companies.
Bruno Guicardi Bruno Guicardi is the President, North America at Ci&T where he is responsible for driving the company’s international business initiatives. Bruno’s primary goal is to maintain and expand Ci&T’s internationalization, which is already one of the 25 most internationalized Brazilian companies. He has over 17 years experience in managing technology projects for large customers in various segments of the industry. He is a regular speaker at technology events and is an evangelist for Lean principles in the IT industry. Bruno graduated from the University of Campinas with a degree in Computer Engineering.
Mike Reilly Mike Reilly is a Senior I/T Director for Application Services at Johnson & Johnson with global responsibility for Commercial Marketing Solutions. He joined the group in 2007 to start up the and lead the Marketing Delivery team accountable for marketing technology focused on developing and implementing innovative global solutions for Johnson & Johnson brands through a Global Creative Lab Network. Mike is also responsible for the Global Web Application Development and Support. Prior to Global Services, Mike worked in the Web, Integration & Shared Services Engineering organization at Johnson & Johnson as the Global Technical Solutions Director. Since joining Johnson & Johnson in 2001, Mike has held various positions including Director of Corporate eSolutions and CIO of THERAKOS, a Johnson & Johnson Medical Device & Diagnostics company, where he served on the Management Board. Mike has 20 years of experience in developing and delivering technology solutions across Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, Consumer Products, Financial Services and Energy industries. He has extensive knowledge in technical systems, emerging technologies, application development and solution delivery across businesses. Mike earned an MBA from Rider University and an undergraduate degree from Montclair State University. Among his community associations, Mike is a leading fund raiser for American Cancer Society through the Coaches vs. Cancer program, Founder and President of Team Morgan Scholarship program and Board Member of the Central Bucks Athletic Association.
Kurt Pearson Kurt is a SVP at Wells Fargo Bank in their Enterprise Offshore Program supporting the consumer segments of Bank. Kurt has been in the industry since 1992 and has held positions at Salomon Brothers, Bank of America, Wachovia and consulted within the US, as well as internationally in England and Australia. Kurt’s main responsibilities are to help create and direct multi-year global sourcing strategies for the segments he supports. Stephanie Moore Stephanie Moore has served as President of Louisana-based Ameritas Technologies since the end of last year. Previously, she was a vice president and principle analyst at Forrester Research, where she worked in the Sourcing & Vendor Management pillar. Stephanie had been with Forrester for 14 years, having come to Forrester through its acquisition of Giga Information Group. At Giga, Stephanie was a vice president and research leader, focusing on application development, IT services, and global sourcing issues. Prior to joining Giga, Stephanie was an analyst at Atelier Research, where she specialized in software application development technologies, business process re-engineering tools, and legacy migration topics. Previously, she was a research associate at New Science Associates, a Gartner Group company, where she was responsible for vendor and product analysis. Stephanie has written hundreds of reports on technology and global sourcing issues. She is quoted frequently in mainstream and industry publications such as CIO, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Computerworld. She has appeared on CNBC, Fox News, and numerous radio talk shows, and she has been a technology consultant for ABC News.
Fabrizio Opertti is Chief of the Trade and Investment Unit of the Integration and Trade Sector at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he supervises an operational team in charge of a large portfolio of international trade and foreign direct investment promotion projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). He also directs the IDB’s initiatives in the services globalization sector, having led the preparation of services’ offshoring promotion strategies in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Colombia, as well as the first LAC Offshoring and Outsourcing Promotion Summit (Outsource2LAC, Montevideo, 2011). Fabrizio also leads the organization of the IDB’s pan-regional trade events, including the upcoming 2012 CEO Summit of the Americas, the 2011 Korea-LAC Business Summit (Seoul), the 2010 China LAC Business Summit (Chengdu), the 2008 ASIA LAC Forum 2008 (Tokyo), the 2007 Korea-LAC Forum (Seoul), and the 2009 and 2011 International Business Meetings in Haiti, in collaboration with the Clinton Global Initiative. He also coordinates IDB’s support to the Latin American Network of Trade Promotion Agencies. Fabrizio has a MBA from Johns Hopkins School of Business, a Master in Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy from American University.
Paulo Bezerra Paulo Bezerra is the Market Development leader for BRASSCOM in the US. Paulo leads efforts introducing and connecting International markets and companies with Brazilian software and IT service companies. Paulo has 20 years of experience assisting groups and companies interests developing partnerships. As Program Director, Senior Manager, Executive Business Adviser and Consultant, Paulo managed strategic programs with Ernst & Young, Capgemini and Fortune 500 companies. Paulo has a BA as Electronic Engineer, a MBA with honors in Chicago with emphasis in Finance, IT Strategy and Operations Management. Paulo was also a member of the International Business School Program in Paris.
Santiago Pinzón Executive Director of the Chamber of BPO & IT at the National Business Association of Colombia – ANDI. In this position he leads and manages ANDI’s activities and projects to strengthen the Business Process Outsourcing and Information Technology sector and the country as a global sourcing destination, especially to pursue sustainable economic growth. He collaborates with government, academia and international associations to develop a more business friendly environment, promote best practices and to stimulate increases in productivity and efficiency. Frequent speaker in international and regional events and his opinions are valued by media such as Outsourcing Magazine, Globalization Today, Dinero, El Tiempo, El Espectador, Semana, among others. Santiago was the Director of Productivity and Competitiveness of the Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Tourism and also served as acting Vice Minister of Business Development (2007-2009). He also served as technical secretary for the free trade zone commission and the legal stability agreements committee and coordinated regional competiveness commissions. He was part of the public/private technical secretariat that led the formulation of the competiveness and productivity public policy of Colombia established in 2008 which promotes the developing of world class sectors. Santiago is a lawyer with MPA (Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree with concentration on International Development at the School of Public Affairs of American University, Washington D.C. He was also the first Chairman of the IAOP Latin America Regional Board (current member), was also member of the Strategic Advisory Board, and is currently the co-chair of the IAOP Colombia Chapter and Transboundary Chapter of IAOP.
Mike Barrett Nearshore Americas named Mike one of the top 25 Nearshore Leaders for 2011. This recognition comes after 20 years of ground level work in the outsourcing industry. Mike is also the author of “Nearshoring to Latin America – An Executive Guide” available as an eBook from Amazon. He is also the author of a dozen magazine articles and eZine stories on the topics of faith and business. Working with a broader team of Nearshore leaders, in 2011 Mike helped give birth to the Nearshore Executive Alliance (NEA), a non-profit organization of nearly 60 companies working inside the Americas. In June of 2009 Mike co-founded Unosquare, a software engineering and application support firm with offices in Guadalajara, Mexico and Portland, Oregon. Unosquare has nearly 100 fulltime software engineers and a stellar client list. Mike has given public presentations with a focus on Nearshoring and Outsourcing in the Americas. Most recently Mike was invited as a featured speaker in Managua, Nicaragua for the 2011 ProNicaragua Investment Forum.
David Rutchik is a Partner at Pace Harmon and possesses over 20 years of experience in the technology, telecom and consulting industries. He served as President of the Internet Data Center and Outsourcing division of an international outsourcing and networking supplier backed by Goldman, Sachs & Co, as well as Vice President of Commercial Operations for an industry leading telecom and technology supplier. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the outsourcing practice of Shaw Pittman (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP). Rutchik specializes in negotiating complex, commercial transactions in areas such as IT and Business Process Outsourcing. He has represented both suppliers and buyers in numerous deals cumulatively worth several billion dollars and has worked with all major industry players including IBM, HP, CSC, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Oracle, SAP, AT&T, Accenture, Cognizant and many others. His management experience includes full P&L, Operations, Corporate Development, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Program Management, and Legal. Rutchik is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a JD from the Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review.
Luke Bujarski is the Research Director for Nearshore Americas. Based in New York City Luke has over ten years of market research and international business experience. His most recent reports take a hard-line look at Brazil’s economic boom and what it means for IT, Latin America as a platform for knowledge-intensive services, and Mexico’s university system as an enabler of IT innovation. Luke has interviewed two Latin American Presidents and presented at the AGExport Global Services Summit in Guatemala City, the SSON Shared Services Summit in Panamá, and has sat on and moderated numerous expert panels. Luke speaks fluent Spanish, Polish, and has a good command of Portuguese. In his former life Luke was a consultant in strategic sourcing at Intersources. Prior to joining Nearshore Americas, Luke headed up Regional Intel, a custom research consultancy based out of Chicago, Illinois. He has a bachelor’s in Spanish Linguistics and International Affairs, and later went on to obtain his Master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with honors.
Rodrigo Slelatt Rodrigo Slelatt is a Principal at A.T. Kearney, Inc. in New York; he focuses on multi-function transformations with focus on Shared Services, Offshoring and Business Process Outsourcing. He has worked closely with multinationals and service providers in the United States, Latin America and Asia, and has also helped Latin American governments in their efforts to grow the industry and attract investment. Rodrigo also focuses in large Pre and Post-Merger Integration programs. Slelatt is the co-author of a number of business papers on the topic of outsourcing, including: “Execution is Everything: The Keys to Offshore Success”; “Destination Latin America: A Near-shore Alternative”; and “Procurement Outsourcing: Navigating the Risks to Rip the Rewards”, and “Outsourcing in Latin America: Are We There Yet?” He holds an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
Francisco Alvarez-Demalde Francisco Alvarez-Demalde is a Founder and Partner of Riverwood Capital Partners, and heads Riverwood’s efforts in Latin America and its New York office. Riverwood manages approximately $1 billion, and makes private equity investments in high‐growth businesses, primarily in the global technology, technology‐enabled and related growth industries. Prior to establishing Riverwood, Mr.Alvarez‐Demalde was an investment professional at Eton Park Capital Management, where he focused on a variety of private equity investments in Latin America. Previously, he was an investment executive at KKR, where he focused on leveraged buyouts in the Technology Industry and other sectors in both North America and emerging markets, and an investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr.Alvarez‐Demalde has invested and been actively involved in the development and growth of several successful businesses across Latin America. Mr. Alvarez‐Demalde earned a Licentiate (Honors) in Economics from San Andres University, Argentina (including an exchange program at the Wharton School). He is a Director of Alog Data Centers do Brasil, CloudBlue, Globant, LAVCA, Mandic, Motionpoint, Navent, GoIntegro, and Synapsis SpA., and a former Director of Allus Global BPO Center and Aveos.
Adrian Hee Adrian Hee is a former Managing Director at Wells Fargo bank responsible for leading transformative global capability sourcing and guiding adoption of process excellence across multiple business units. He has over 18 years of Banking and Financial Services experience across multiple disciplines and business lines. While at Wells Fargo, he lead and managed an enterprise team supporting Wholesale Banking, Risk and Credit, and Marketing divisions that was comprised of 40+ business lines, over $10 Billion in Revenues, and 40,000 associates. Additionally, Adrian also lead a team of process experts in the Enterprise Process Excellence Program that was tasked with driving business process improvements within Wells Fargo major business line segments. Prior to Wells Fargo, Adrian was with Wachovia Bank and Bank of America. At Wachovia, he was Head of Business Integration for Corporate and Investment Banking and at Bank of America he was in Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Finance.
Kevin Parikh Kevin Parikh is the Global CEO and Sr. Partner of Avasant. Mr. Parikh specializes in IT and business process (BP) outsourcing, contract and service‑level negotiations, joint ventures, captive centers, strategic management, business risk evaluation and software licensing. Over his career, Mr. Parikh has been involved in more than 300 outsourcing and business transactions. These deals have ranged from US$20 million to US$2.5 billion, involving major Tier 1 and Tier 2 service providers. His practice engages in both Nearshore and Offshore sourcing solutions. Mr. Parikh is based in Los Angeles, California. Prior to joining Avasant, Mr. Parikh led the Global Sourcing practice for Gartner Consulting. Tom Taylor Tom Taylor is an IT services expert with over 25 years of industry experience at Neoris, CSC and Accenture. During his career he has formed many remote service arrangements for project and outsourcing engagements in multiple geographies, including India, LATAM, Australia, and Canada. Tom has experience in such areas as ERP implementation (SAP & Oracle), IT strategy/shared services, supply chain management and offshore development and support.
