I was a corporate CFO many years ago, and then did a lot of consulting associated with World Bank, UN and international situations. The complete lack of metrics about operational state, progress and performance is mind-boggling. Bluntly put, nothing that really matters is getting measured and most of the initiatives to address this are from the top and not from the bottom where economic activity worth a damn actually takes place.
