Ian S. 2nd degree connection2nd Social Impact Fintech ● Working with employers to gift free stocks, shares, crypto or cash to employees ● Good for employers ● Good for employees ● Good for investors 2mo (edited) If the metaverse is 'open', it may provide some benefits. If not, the question is who would benefit from a society hooked on 'digital opiates' probably rewarded for good behaviour and penalised for bad? We already know there is censorship, coercion and filter bubbles on social media platforms and AI avatars could be used to betray the trust of vulnerable people. Hikikomori could be the tip of the iceberg for what is coming: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/photography/article/japan-hikikomori-isolation-society This feels more Borg than Star Trek (maybe with a hint of Logan's run thrown in) 😉

David Fritsche Author NASA, CTO, Author, Coach 2mo Great analogies. As someone said earlier, 30 will be old enough and we’ll need to regenerate :-)

William Dollar 2nd degree connection2nd Strategic Blockchain Consulting - Division of Remonix Inc. 2mo Good Post and 'digital opiates' says a lot!

ay Crispin Courtenay 2nd degree connection2nd Sharkaroo - know a thing or two about wine & technology 2mo This was around in the early '90s, sadly looks no different today, decades later.

David Fritsche Author NASA, CTO, Author, Coach 2mo I have two sons that would disagree. They believe it’s coming in a big way. I have two daughters that have never even tried. Don’t care. I will personally be trying a few things out of curiousity. I am a skeptic at the moment as well. However, I do see the business meeting potential. Also, certainly gaming potential. The social side, beyond gaming, concerns me. Are we heading to “Real Player One”, where we live in stacked trailers because our real world is VR?
------------------------------------------
Paul Middleton 2nd degree connection2nd Thesis Driven Investor 2mo Kenneth Hodge a bit bizarre to say i cant have a complete picture due to my age... as if books on the history of technology dont exist .... with this logic i could say that you arent old enough to have a complete picture either and we can go further than the 70s ... point is...'metaverse is 30 years of technology & 20-100x increase in manpower' different than it was in the 90s' (obviously built on a foundation of tech over the past decades)

Joe Tran 🔥 (Human) 2nd degree connection2nd I help companies 2-5 X revenue by optimizing Revops. Wanna see how? Yep, that's crazy! 2mo It goes beyond that.. It's more brilliant or sinister. We are starting to see the power of the digital economy. With the potential of defi. It's about owning assets in the digital VR space. It's about escapism. As we are trending to consume more we as a society is moving closer to the Matrix.
------------------------------------------
David Fritsche Author NASA, CTO, Author, Coach 2mo Worth exploring on your comment - “brilliant or sinister”. Mark’s vision on horizon solves a problem that current Decentralland companies have. Their property ownership is only valuable if it’s unique. If anyone can create a nee universe, then what’s unique? With Horizon, the concept that we all build in a compatible space, allows for the creation of unique and popular spaces. This potentially creates lasting value in property and space. Interesting.

Paul Middleton 2nd degree connection2nd Thesis Driven Investor 2mo David Fritsche id say the people that you interact with make it unique...

Hayden Gill 2nd degree connection2nd #meta #mining #nft #defi #dao = reality. Are you part of the change? 2mo I think it's more ar instead of vr.

Richard L. 2nd degree connection2nd Owner at Raker UK, luxury antiques for discerning clientele and interior designers. Project development on the Ethereum block chain. 2mo A man goes to the doctor. He says “I’m really worried, I have an orange penis!” “Well that’s unusual, what do you think could have caused it?”, “I’ve no idea!” Says the man. “Talk me through your daily routine then” says the doc. “Well, I go on the meta verse, do my work, then eat cheesy nachos and watch porn!”.

Mena Botros 2nd degree connection2nd Group Head of Marketing 2mo Richard, you are a future reader. This is going to be accurate!
------------------------------------------
Ugo Amobi 2nd degree connection2nd Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Nano Genesis Labs 2mo It's still quite unbelievable that Meta aka Facebook found a new way to suck their users time. I believe it will first appeal to the gamers/hybrid work home businesses before gradually sucking everyone else into it. They've already master the art of digital dopamine and now they will be taking escapism to a new dimension. Just my 2 cents :)

Jeffrey Kesselman (He/Him) 2nd degree connection2nd Assistant Professor of Game Design and Development at Purdue Polytechnic Institute 2mo (edited) Its not new. The idea of virtual worlds is decades old and goes back to Jaron Lanier at VPL.
------------------------------------------
Vlad Sherbatov 2nd degree connection2nd Smarter Money Show | Smarter Loans | Simplee Digital 2mo Depends who you are talking to. I think in 10 years todays's adults will be pulled into VR regularly by events, trade show and brand activity. For today's kids, i think VR based metaverse eill be a standard hangout spot for them in 10 years

Kevin Miller out of network3rd+ Realtor® at CENTURY 21 Affiliated 2mo Unfortunately I see VR being intertwined with IRL in 10 years with 20 somethings fully immersed in the digital world displayed in front of their eyes as they walk, work, drive, and live in a consumer centric environment tailored to each individual. Too bleak? Too much like Free Guy?
