The Rise and Fall of the Penn Central 92,105 viewsJun 21, 2021 2.8K 43 SHARE SAVE Ruairidh MacVeigh 70.3K subscribers Howdy! :D This week, we return to the United States and June 1970, where after years of poor management, stringent regulation and a loss of market to air and motor transport, the Penn Central, a gigantic railroad formed through the merger of two companies with completely different personalities and methods, collapsed into what was the largest bankruptcy in history at the time, but in its fall from grace highlighted how the over-regulation of the system had led to an inability for all of the railroad firms to compete. This video has not been monetised. Footage is comprised mainly of old promotional videos and documentaries to which the rights belong to their respective owners. Use of these videos has been made for the purposes of education under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, in which allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. The use of said footage is not being made in any commercial capacity, but is displayed for the purposes of education and example in the context of the documentary. To comply with the above, this video has not been enabled for monetization and thus no earnings are being made off the use of this footage. Proof of this complicity can be made if required. All video content and images in this production have been provided with permission wherever possible. While I endeavour to ensure that all accreditations properly name the original creator, some of my sources do not list them as they are usually provided by other, unrelated YouTubers. Therefore, if I have mistakenly put the accreditation of 'Unknown', and you are aware of the original creator, please send me a personal message at my Gmail (this is more effective than comments as I am often unable to read all of them): rorymacveigh@gmail.com The views and opinions expressed in this video are my personal appraisal and are not the views and opinions of any of these individuals or bodies who have kindly supplied me with footage and images. If you enjoyed this video, why not leave a like, and consider subscribing for more great content coming soon.
