A trip up the West Coast Main Line from Preston to Carlisle on a TransPennine Express Class 350/4. Its a lovely ride through Lancashire and on into Cumbria. We skirt round the edge of the Lake District and negotiate Shop Summit. As always, there is some discussion about signalling and we discuss a couple of very unfortunate incidents.
