Dear Friends and Supporters,
In late March, as the pandemic descended upon our city, we knew that there were needs emerging in our local community. We were intent on finding a way to effect immediate change by solving everyday problems that were heightened by the pandemic. It was at that time that we contacted many of you regarding our desire to develop our website that would help us connect residents in our district with the solutions they needed.
With your support, SolutionsNOW was born!
We are pleased to announce today that SolutionsNOW, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is fully operational. Our mission is to swiftly support local underserved communities, seniors and individuals experiencing food, housing and economic insecurity and address societal needs in times of calm or crisis.
We recognize that more often than not, people who want to do good things, they just don't know how to get involved or who to trust. Because of your generosity, encouragement and volunteerism, we have accomplish a great deal together:
- SolutionsNOW has delivered 62,048 meals in the first few months of operation.
- SolutionsNOW has sourced and delivered 700 N-95 masks to Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx. Lincoln was one of the hardest hit hospitals in the country.
- SolutionsNOW has helped build two makeshift hospitals.
- SolutionsNOW secured 1,500 masks that were donated by American Roots, an apparel company out of Portland, Maine.
What we have seen first hand is that there are needs all around us and we now understand some of the limitations that politics have when it comes to effecting immediate change. So we are pressing in and rolling up our sleeves to be the change we want to see. Beyond the pandemic, we continue to learn of the evolving needs of our neighbors and we’re addressing them in real time.
This is an unprecedented time in history with heightened awareness and reaction to social injustice and wealth inequality. There is no place in New York City, where that is more evident than in Harlem which means that there are still many challenges ahead of us. SolutionsNOW is embedded in this community and we are going to be at the forefront of addressing the problems that government can’t solve. We invite you to get involved!
