This new Trump-McConnell talking point is bullsh*t

Peter, Trump and McConnell have settled on a new talking point to shift the blame of their enormous coronavirus failures away from themselves and onto Democrats: They were too distracted by impeachment to take any real action.
That's bullsh*t.
Trump and his administration repeatedly downplayed the coming danger to public safety. Daily Kos Staff Writer Mark Sumner even took to tracking the Trump administration's lies and denials about the virus as it began to spread in the United States. Here's an example of one he made about three weeks ago:

As Mark's chart shows, Trump's rhetoric didn't reflect the real danger that Americans were facing. And still today, Trump continues to spew misinformation, blame others for his blunders and belittle reporters for asking prudent questions at his daily press briefing.
Every single one of Trump's COVID-19 briefings has been filled with BS. We are in a crisis, and his lies are actively harming people. That's why over 200,000 people have signed a petition asking networks to stop carrying Trump's briefings and instead hold briefings from real health experts that deliver the facts and guidance.
Trump's incompetence and traditional media's inability to hold him accountable to the lies he's spread shows exactly why we need independent media.
