This month, the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump concluded without seeking additional documentation, or calling a single witness. And the Senate’s inaction shows that it is unwilling to act as a check on the executive branch of the U.S. government. But the Senate’s decision not to hold Trump accountable for his actions is not just about partisan politics; it is a symptom of a system that allows the rich and powerful -- and the corporations that control them -- to do whatever they want with impunity.
We see it time and time again: from massive water privatizers threatening people’s access to clean and safe water, and walking away making a profit, to private prison corporations violating people's human rights and perpetuating systemic racism and xenophobia after being handed millions of dollars in government contracts.
The only way this will change is with people like you raising your voices and demanding systems and policies that will ensure that corporations can’t abuse people and the planet without facing real consequences.
And this month, you took action to bring us closer to that reality. Here’s just a few of the things you accomplished:

For more than forty years, Corporate Accountability has run long-term strategic campaigns to shift power away from corporations and to the people, where it belongs. DIVESTING PUBLIC PENSION MONEY FROM THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY

And across the world, people are already feeling the impact of escalating floods, fires, heatwaves, and storms. Yet, the taxes we pay to our state governments are sometimes used to indirectly fund further climate destruction through investments in fossil fuel corporations -- the very same powerful polluters fueling the climate crisis. That’s why tens of thousands of people like you are demanding our elected officials divest from the fossil fuel industry. PROTECTING OUR NATIONAL PARKS FROM THE BOTTLED WATER INDUSTRY
Reusable water bottle at national park Representative Mike Quigley has introduced a bill that would reinstate a policy giving National Parks a pathway towards going bottled water free. And this week that bill got a public hearing. The policy was rescinded by the Trump administration shortly after David Bernhardt, a former lobbyist who has ties to water bottling giant Nestlé, was made Deputy Secretary of the Interior. But thanks to Representative Quigley, and activists like you, the efforts to get our parks to buck the bottle isn’t nearly done. Check out the video of the hearing on Facebook.
