This morning, we declared that this campaign wouldn’t be handing over a cent of your contributions to the DCCC. When people give to this small-dollar-funded campaign, they donate to support progressive leaders, not corporate incumbents.
We just announced the foundation of Courage to Change — Alexandria’s brand new PAC to support working-class candidates who have lived the struggles that we’re fighting against.
We asked folks from coast to coast to believe in us, and become founding donors. This is what happened:

Fox News just broke the news: our campaign will not pay the $250,000 that the DCCC is demanding from us.
That’s because we’re paving a different path. The DCCC has been an entrenched tool in a system that blocks working-class candidates from running for office, and protects out of touch incumbents.
So we’re proud to announce the formation of our new PAC: Courage to Change. Will you become a founding donor today, and help us elect working-class candidates across the country?

When community leaders, activists, and working-class candidates try to run for office, organizations like the DCCC discourage them. These potential progressive leaders are asked: “Can you raise $300,000 from your friends and family? If not, don’t bother trying.”
We know because that’s what people told Alexandria. But does that surprise you? When you think about how broken Washington is — and so many of our representatives are wealthy elites — it makes sense.
We’re stuck in this situation because there has been a structural effort to keep people like Alexandria, and people like you, out of power. But today, that changes.
Become a founding donor of Courage to Change, and help us elect working-class champions who have lived the hardships we seek to eliminate — people who have experienced racial, economic, environmental, or social injustice firsthand.

As we speak, the DCCC still blacklists all progressives running against incumbents. It doesn’t matter to them if those incumbents support Trump, vote for a regime of deportation, ask the Supreme Court to allow bans on abortion, or stand with the NRA.
That’s the DCCC’s choice. And this is ours — we will not support candidates who do not reflect the values of the Democratic party. And together, we will fight to elect people who will stand up for the nation we all deserve.
