The President of the Republic of Ghana Visits NYU Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) in Kumawu, Ghana

In October, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, visited Yaw Nyarko at his NYU CTED Research Center in the rural farming village of Kumawu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Nyarko has long studied the economic impact of commodities exchanges in Africa and looked at how farmers can adopt new technology, like mobile phone apps for trading, to grow their businesses and transform agricultural value chains.

President Akufo-Addo’s visit to CTED provided an opportunity for him to learn more about Nyarko’s research, test some of the apps designed by CTED’s team of Ghanaian developers, and hear about the ongoing work with the Ghana Commodities Exchange (GCX).
