Dear Friend,
This is Devi. She is one of the beneficiaries of the IIX Impact Partners platform, which through its investments in enterprises that serve people and planet, has had the distinction of protecting Devi's health.
The agricultural Indian village where Devi lives and raises her son is far away from any city. Devi works hard, her son studies hard, and altogether their efforts have led to a good life in their village. However, neither Devi nor her village had provision for healthcare service.
Earlier this year both Devi and her son fell ill at the same time. Typically they would have had to make the journey to the nearest doctor in Udaipur, over 8 hours away. Because of Karma Healthcare (an impact enterprise working with IIX Impact Partners), which sends doctors to areas with medical shortages, Devi and her son got to receive treatment quickly. They're doing better now. Thankfully they didn't have to balance treatment against the competing difficulties of a painful and weakening journey, travel costs, and lost wages.
The case remains however that a full HALF of us on planet earth do not get the medical attention we need. Access to healthcare has to be a priority.

At IIX Foundation we have the honor of investing in enterprises that serve the underserved, and the ambition of seeing these enterprises scale so that they serve more women like Devi. In this case, IIX Foundation covered the cost of $60,000 that Karma Healthcare needed to get investment ready, which in turn allowed IIX Impact Partners to raise an initial $500,000, ultimately impacting 970,045 lives.
