New owners plan to greatly expand NY Accounting Show

The Accounting and Finance Show, New York, is under new management, and this year will feature six different tracks for attendees to follow. Accounting professionals will be able to attend sessions on technology, tax management, wealth management, practice management, and funding, bookkeeping and payroll. There will also be a finance director’s summit.

The event, which is free of charge to attend, will be held July 11-12, 2018, at the Javits Center in New York.

Previously, when the conference was under the purview of Flagg Management, The Accounting and Finance Show featured about 12 to 15 speakers, and covered subjects that focused mainly on tax. It was a smaller, regional show, and the attendance averaged at about 1,100.

The new conference organizer Terrapinn is expanding the show considerably. The organizers expect between 1,500 and 1,800 attendees, and will have approximately 200 speakers on the slate, according to conference director Gregory Khemai. Terrapinn’s strategy, said Khemai, is to “radically restructure the show by bringing six, brand new, targeted streams, delivered by a speaker faculty of 100 plus young, diverse professionals.”

Khemai also said that the the six new topic streams will enable the conference to cover subjects like blockchain technology, accounting for cryptocurrencies, forensic accounting, diversity and inclusion in accounting, and the future of wealth management.

The keynote speaker will be Kelvin Joseph, chief operating offers and chief marketing officer of sports marketing agency Steiner Sports. He started his accounting career at EY, and became chief financial officer of Steiner Sports less than a decade later.

Other key speakers include names that may be familiar to our readers: Stacy Kildal, founder of Kildal Services, will be speaking under the bookkeeping and payroll track; author of “The Radical CPA,” Jody Padar, will be speaking at the finance director’s summit; and Gary Boomer, CEO of Boomer Consulting, will be addressing practice management.
