Prior to joining Trucost, Alex was a Corporate Sustainability Analyst and Manager at KLD Research & Analytics, where he managed KLD’s role as lead partner in Newsweek’s Inaugural Green Rankings. In 2009, Alex co-founded the Boston Area Sustainable Investment Consortium (BASIC), today a 500+ member network of New England sustainable investment professionals.

Educator, author, editor and advisor on sustainable corporate and investment strategy.

Teaching includes at Brown University on the Theory & Practice of Sustainable Investing supporting the creation of the Brown University Sustainable Investment Fund, as well as College and Graduate Seminars at Yale, and MBA classes at Maryland and Concordia in Montreal.

Designed and helped lead the RFK Sustainable Investing program for Kerry Kennedy's RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights.

Advisory work includes acting as Lead Consultant to the 2015 PRI Climate Change Asset Owner Strategy working group, resulting in the successful adoption of a Climate Change Asset Owner Strategy Framework.

Senior advisory services also provided to organizations such as BlueSky Investment Management, the Carbon Tracker Initiative, Future Earth, NPV Associates and the UNEP Inquiry into the Design of a Sustainable Financial System.

Developed Sustainable City Award winning analysis of portfolios for Trucost in 2005 and was Senior VP through 2012. Created the first Sustainability & Investor Relations practice in the mid 2000s. Member of the Expert Group that helped oversee and create PRI in 2005.

Earlier career in technology and big data including building the world's first global institutional ownership database in the 1990s.
