Peter Burgess I think it has become clear that there is an appetite for impact investing, but the state of metrics for impact investing is simply not very useful. Metrics for corporate profit are well established and the correlation between corporate profit and stock valuations reasonably well understood, but there is nothing like it yet for investment in impact.

One of the characteristics of corporate money accounting is that it is very efficient and cost effective. Most of what is going on in impact analysis is costly and inefficient ... too many words and not enough numbering. In my view, it is time to look at the data architecture that is needed in order to have low cost effective reporting of impact so that better decisions about allocation of resources can be made.

I am working on this. It is not easy, but some progress is being made. Please stay tuned.
