Press Release: Tony Manwaring appointed Executive Director External Affairs at CIMA

PRESS RELEASE

Tomorrow’s Company CEO accepts new role at CIMA

Tony Manwaring the Chief Executive of Tomorrow’s Company, the London based global think tank, has accepted a new role as Executive Director, External Affairs at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He will be leaving Tomorrow’s Company at the end of the year to take up his new post in the New Year.

During Tony’s time as CEO, Tomorrow’s Company has further evolved its thought provoking agenda and diverse output. It has developed its Good Governance Forum, producing a stream of outputs, such as the Board Mandate, Governing Values and more recently the Tomorrow’s Chairman letters; helped set the agenda for the future of corporate reporting and made the case for Integrated Reporting; had a growing influence on the investment community through its work on investor stewardship and Tomorrow’s Capital Markets; produced a guide for pension fund trustees encouraging them to be clear in the investment beliefs which inform their mandates; and initiated the Tomorrow’s Global Leaders programme with its focus on the cultural issues that hold back the promotion of the widest talent in organisations. Most recently Tony worked closely with the Lord Mayor of London to develop the Tomorrow’s City programme.

CIMA and Tomorrow’s Company have a long standing relationship and have been working in partnership on a number of these projects – in particular Tomorrow’s Business Success, Tomorrow’s Corporate Reporting and Tomorrow’s Relationships - and on a series of lectures addressing Tomorrow’s Value.

Mark Goyder, Founder Director of Tomorrow’s Company, will take on the responsibilities of CEO with immediate effect. He commented: “Tony leaves with our good wishes and thanks for all he has achieved in his time here, and I look forward to working with him and CIMA in his new role. The partnership with CIMA is important to our work to set a new agenda for better governance, stewardship, reporting, risk management and a better understanding of what value means in the companies of tomorrow. We will continue to work on these themes with CIMA, as well as exploring the new frontier of questions about the role of business and investment in a world that has changed so much in the two decades since the start of our work.”

Barrie Collins, Chairman of Tomorrow’s Company said: “We wish Tony every success in his new role and thank him for all that he has done for Tomorrow’s Company. These are exciting times for our work, which is more relevant than ever in challenging times. We are delighted that Mark Goyder is able to provide the leadership needed for this key transition.”

Tomorrow’s Company will celebrate 20 years of innovation and leadership in 2015. The Tomorrow’s Company Futures project which is now being planned will be designed to provoke a forward-looking debate on the changing nature and role of the company, its potential to be a force for good in the economy and society and the enabling steps that can start to be taken now by leaders in business, investment, government and civil society.
