Burgess COMMENTARY

Peter Burgess

Peace Building Map This interactive map compiles the shared knowledge of the wider peacebuilding community on the holistic patterns of conflict risk and the locations of peacebuilding actors working to address those risk factors. It shows data from a range of participating initiatives. We encourage all users to go to the original sources (see below) for a deeper understanding of their respective methodologies and additional data. If you would like to get in touch with any of the Peace Agent organizations, please inquire and we'll direct you to an appropriate point of contact. The map can be searched by indicator, sub-indicator, state, Local Government Area, and time range. Analytical tools allow for comparisons and trends. Any findings should be considered as suggestive, not conclusive, and should be corroborated with other methods. Trainings on how to use the tool will be available. Bulletins based on an analysis of this data can be viewed at http://www.p4p-nigerdelta.org/conflict-bulletins P4P Hub lists organizations self-identified as agents of peace (visualized as green stars on the map below).

Nigeria Watch (www.nigeriawatch.org) tracks incidents of violence that result in casualties. Council on Foreign Relations ( www.cfr.org/nigeria/nigeria-security-tracker/p29483) catalogue incidents of violence related to political, economic, and social grievances.

UNLocK (www.fundforpeace.org/global/?q=unlock) engages local civil society for participatory and qualitative assessment of the deeper drivers of conflict.

WANEP Nigeria is a network of civil society organizations committed to conflict early warning and peacebuilding ( www.wanepnigeria.org).
