NYC Eco District Working Group ...

Burgess COMMENTARY

Peter Burgess

NYC Eco District Working Group 2012-1024x629An evolving group of organizations and individuals will be working together to explore the opportunities around launching an Eco District program in New York City. With a new Mayoral Administration in place, timing may be aligned to introduce this concept at the city governmental level, a step that will be necessary for an Eco District program to be successful. If you are interested in participating in this exploratory committee, please: Register Here Living City Block and Urban Energy Systems Corporation will be leading this process in the near term, although an initial goal will be to engage an advisory board and leadership council. Those entities, and the exploratory committee at large, will identify and engage the proper leadership group to take the process to the next level. These groups will also identify potential funding sources and missing partnerships/stakeholders needed to better position the process for success. Currently, LCB/UESC envisions holding monthly meetings at the offices of participating organizations (or at more public venues when necessary). Participants should access their ability to attend these meetings and to eventually perform other voluntary tasks before committing to this process. These additional tasks may involve: light research to identify best potential NYC neighborhoods or districts; research or analysis around existing local and regional programs that can aid and be aided by this process; recruitment of needed partners and stakeholders; and, identification of connection to potential funding sources. We look forward to welcoming you into this process and to seeing you at future organizing events.
