Barry is a partner in Change~Agency, a research and consulting firm which advises companies on marketing excellence, sustainability and organisation development. Previous and current clients include 3M, 4C Coffee Association, Better Cotton Initiative, ISEAL Alliance, Microsoft, Sainsbury's, and Xerox Europe.
He is also Chair of Wiki-Solutions, a business dedicated to helping clients harness the power of collaboration to originate ideas and solutions through facilitated on-line group work. Clients have included Age UK, BMW Park Lane, Marketing Agencies Association Worldwide, NAAFI, law firm Thomas Eggar and several leading marketing agencies.
He was the founding chairman of Proximity when it was formed as a company within the BBDO Worldwide network in 2000. Proximity London included Clarke Hooper, the marketing communications firm which he co-founded in 1974. Clarke Hooper went public in 1984 and was acquired by BBDO in 1991.
Barry was a member of BBDO UK's Chief Executives Forum and was responsible for the group's business in on-line, internal communications, sales promotion, marketing communications and telemarketing.
He began his career in marketing at Procter & Gamble and followed that with 5 years as a marketing consultant in North America and France with Glendinning Companies where his principal client was Shell. He later joined McCann Erickson Advertising as UK Board Director and Vice-President Europe,

Barry served two terms as Chair of Save the Children UK and a further two terms as Chair of the International Save the Children Alliance. He was an international advisor to Innovations for Maternal Newborn and Child Health and is currently a Council Member for the global Better Cotton Initiative,
He is a member of the steering group for the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Charity Group, Vice Chair of Community Impact Bucks and a governor and chair of the audit and governance committees at John Hampden Grammar School.
