Metrics
Shared Measurement

Shared Measurement in the framework of Collective Impact

Burgess COMMENTARY
It is encouraging to see metrics included at the center of a major initiative in the consulting field around social progress.

But the concept I have advocated is still not embraced. The metrics should exist whether of not there is a consulting initiative or a development project. The metrics should exist as a part of the broad infrastructure of society ... almost as a part of the commons.

Metrics that are part of a project tend to be compromised from the start because of the natural tendency to look for success. The independence of metrics is a key strength of a successful system of metrics.
