Did you know that your everyday choices can impact our planet in both positive and negative ways?
The checklist below offers 10 easy things that you can do to save money, save energy, and save the planet.

Wash your hands right when the water gets warm.
Use water from the tap before it gets too hot so you can waste less running water while it warms.
Recycle plastic, aluminum and paper.
Pledge to recycle at least 5 plastic bottles, 5 aluminum cans, and ½ pound of paper each week.
Use natural light as much as possible, and turn off the lights in rooms that you aren’t using.
Replace incandescent lights bulbs with CFLs in your home.
Try to replace at least 10 75-watt bulbs with CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs).
Use a power strip to plug in your electronics and switch it off when you are not using them.
Take shorter showers.
Reduce your shower time by 5 minutes a day to save water.
Lower the temperature on your thermostat.
Lower the temperature especially at night and when nobody is home. For each 1 degree you turn down the thermostat in the winter, you can save up to 5% on the heating bill.
Ride a bike instead of driving.
Replace 10 miles of driving with biking each week.
Plant a tree.
Plant trees to shade the south or west side of your home to save on air conditioning.
