I am very glad that you accepted my invitation to connect on LinkedIn. Over the past few months, I have become aware of your work and am very happy about it. I have been involved in the international relief and development space for a good part of my career and really not at all happy with what I have seen. Making a difference proved to be a whole lot harder than I expected, and in many ways my career 'went to Hell'.
There are many reasons why relief and development progress and performance has been so poor, and hardly any of the official initiatives address enough of them ... a single silver bullet is never the answer.
But as a former money profit accountant, I am still impressed by the importance of knowing about the performance of money, and keeping control of money so that it does not get lost in the shuffle. OUCH ... a lot of people in high places do not like an initiative like this!
I have also been bothered for a long time by the way money profit performance was crowding out the holistic performance of economic activity in society. This is the 'raison d'etre' of my initiative with TrueValueMetrics ... Value Accountancy.
In addition I have been interested in complementary currency initiatives for some considerable time, and in fact am exploring the possibility of creating something that might get called Pocono Bucks for the area in North-East Pennsylvania where I am now living.
As I think I mentioned ... it was your contribution to a recent AlJazeera 'Counting the Cost' programme that got me to reach out to you.
Is there any way I might be able to help ... though I am getting older, I am not yet completely out of the game!
