Amy McLeod - 2:55 PM (edited) - Public In my last post I mentioned security people who started beating people in front of a crowd of thousands, this is the video I was thinking of.

I'll first point out that I'm not condoning this at all, or suggesting that anyone starts to fight Police like this. If you look back through my stream you'll see that I repeatedly stress that the majority of Police officers are just ordinary people trying to do a difficult job. But this is human nature, human beings do not like watching injustice happen in front of them, and being in a uniform is not a magical protection from the anger of a crowd. This is why it's important that if you're a police officer you do not blindly follow stupid orders to start attacking people in front of crowds, and this is why it's important that when you see your colleagues committing brutality that you do not just let it pass unchallenged. Because sooner or later letting it pass unchallenged is going to get you hurt, even if you're one of the good guys. You need the consent of the people to do your job, if you lose that consent then you cannot hope to regain it by force, that is not the job of an officer of the law, that is the job of a soldier. An officer of the law polices with the consent of the people in upholding the law and when you attempt to replace consent with force then you cease being an officer of the law and you start being a soldier, and the very last thing a soldier should want is to be fighting their own people in their own country.

Slightly edited, to provide references to just some of the many major news organisations that are regurgitating the phrase 'nudging with batons'. I don't know about you, but nudging conjures up an almost playful image doesn't it, something you do with your sibiling when teasing them.

Whereas the correct phrase to use here would be violently striking, with a good chance of damaging ribs and internal organs.

Journalists you should be ashamed of yourself's for just regurgitating this crap, you should hang up your reporters hat and quit in shame if this is all you're going to do as a reporter.

Amy McLeod originally shared this post:

So, I have been having a look through all the mainstream news organisations that even mention this.

Curiously they all have one thing in common, they all mention arrests of students for 'resisting' and they all use the exact line 'nudging students with batons'*(1)

I have some from many Great American Universities circling me, is this 'Nudging' ? You be the judge.

Also why do the campus police even have riot gear at all? Who bought this for them? Why are University administrators being allowed to get away with employing these Stormtrooper morons?

This is Berkley, this isn't a crowd of brain dead jocks upset that their favourite pedophile protector has been fired and then seemingly allowed to vandalize and riot.

These are among the best and the brightest, these are the future, you cannot beat the future with force, you cannot beat an idea into submission.

Citizens outnumber the police many fold, this is why Police have to uphold the law with the consent of the people, police officers cannot enforce the law without the consent of the people, and if they continue to follow dumb orders like this and completely lose the consent of the people they are going to get hurt, you only need to look at what happened to the security people who started beating someone in front of a crowd of thousands to understand what happens when police forget what their job actually is.

So someone better get a grip here, some people need to be fired over this if they think this is any reasonable way to deal with peaceful protest.

*(1) Reference.. Three News stories at random from the Major organisations. nudging ..nudging...nudging ..
