Why is so much police confrontation in play? My impression is that the US regime ... that is the controlling 1% ... is scared stiff of what reform of the socio-economic structure would mean.

I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the past week in the center of the #OWS activities in New York. The OWS leadership is determined that the protest is about socio-economic issues arising from the greed of the 1% and non-violence is the watchword.

It is, however, very difficult to be non-violent when you are being herded around by a squad of police who are under orders ... what their orders exactly are, and where they come from is not, however, very clear. I got the impression that most of the police rank and file ... and many officers ... have a respect for the issues being raised by the #OWS protesters. The police, by and large are part of the 99%.

My big question is that after more than 4 weeks, there are zero ideas coming from the 1% that would start to address the issues being raised by the #OWS community. If the top executives in the financial sector do not understand the charge of greed and responsability for a deterioriating global economy caused in large part by their activities, then they are a lot dumber or greedier than I thought!
