About the book

This book was written to make the point that a single silver bullet does not work to solve the performance problems in relief and development. Experience had shown that there were very many different issues that impact relief and development performance ... and as the book evolved it was realized that it would be around 300 issues that were involved.

The format of the books is very simple ... an alphabetical list of the issues together with a short description of the issue, the way it is being handled in most of current relief and development practice, and a better way for the issue to be handled. Nothing more.

Since the book was prepared the issues have been incorporated into the TrueValueMetrics website in order to facilitate feedback about these issues and provide a platform for learning and micro-action in a specific situation.
