Dialog
A networked society

An e-mail exchange around Social Business networking

This e-mail exchange has some important thoughts, and therefore is being shared. Social Business has been pioneered by Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank to give opportunity to poor people and a way to progress. It has been evolving in Bangladesh for a number of years, and is responsible for some of the socio-economic progress that has been made in Bangladesh. Now it is time to have Social Business become the norm for entrepreneurs and investment!

1
the tv video (because of technicalities which statisticians in the trade of market modelling call vampire vampire effect) seldom proves economic for connecting rumors that interact extreme innovators knowledge, SO I am a great fan of leaflets informally done- I happen to know of the mix process that demonstrates gandhi would never have become world famous without some accidental leaflet planting

microeconomically, we are talking about small print runs till you find what each party wants in the same leaflet-

2
the first thing (from yunus mind if I read it right) is choose the iconic photo; he has already confirmed there are great photos of princess anne's capping cermony of the village girls- do you already have these? if not will you get them and choose the one you like best or do you need mostofa's help to find who in mirpur is currently sitting on priness anne- why wouldnt stydentsfuture want to wear a tshirt blazoned across their chest with the anne-gcal-girl power moment of creation

3
next I try to simplify grameen health since 1-- extremely affordable posters is very nice but noisy; obviously so many people (especially vidars network ) have done so much work on health (and ironically the danish slander of yunus wouldnt have happened without hos interpretation of health and microcredit funding needing to flow into each other) so WHOOSH the idea of training up hundreds of thousands of nurses then millions to end nurseless vilages - and celebrate girl effect -that's one the whole net generation can get behind, and glory be perhaps even womens lib neworks like unifem so far notorious for misunderstanding yunus

and youth can celebrate the practical 2020 goal of end nurselless villagesas centyral to economics of wellbeing - and ofr the oppiste way round sort that more general millennium goas never are so easily measured nor world banked

4
and better yet subliminally destroy hasina cabal if her advisers blocks end nurseless vilages while telling princess anne the porkies she did about yunus being inefficient - so the next part of the leaflet is to let yunus if he agrees the nurse college is one he likes storytelling, declare what moores law doubling goal it is on over next year next 3 years etc provided it keeps on getting resources - trainers as energetic as barbara supported by practice institutions like Gcal, even the odd statstician or two since The Economist was founded by a scottish statistician,

4.1
and I trust there is a scots culture of valuing nusrses - and money from nike foundation as long as they dont feel cheated by the adidas $1 shoe which isnt a concept with a distribution chain even when yunus was mr vilage distribution ;

4.2
... all the other good news community things that sort of connect naturally around celebrating nurses- for example obama is way behond his 2008 promise to end death by malaria by 2015 - impossibly so unless he joins in hubbing end nurseless villages- and one of his latest start ups programs is led by the not exactly true originator of malaria no more something that upsets peter burgess after 20 years of work of trying to help humans 'network smarter' than the mosoquito -i which can never be done by nets alone

5
if we go ahead and print a small run with the picture in the next 8 days so it can become a fashion to be one of the few with the nurses leaflet at the 3000 danone meeting on april 28,

5.1
then the picture . the exponentailly doubling goals , the girl power, some text that implies it was part of what was celebrated at the economist as bangladesh 2010s being more exciting than japan 1960s, you can then completely re-edit version 2 as a more formal brochure but meanwhile we have the picture to viralise just in time on the good news portal naila's team is taking to beta stage within 10 days, and we have a story that prince charles , sarah, sainsbury billinnaires, princess anne can feel part of co-creating too; and promoite the week before the olympics which anne duffill tells me the royals will declare the greatest ever fringe festival of st james economics or social buisness or french entrepreneurship or adma smiths way ahead (as they are all self-prgansiaing and open the way nature values sustainaboity and so expects free markets of the net gen to be smart enoigh to do too)

5.2
so thats where I think the leaflet is- perhaps we are a year away from the 2 pictures of annes nurses and solar empowerment becoming colectors pieces at clarence palace and given by the queen to thise of the 23 global brand leaders sponsoring the olympics that choose to co-create smarter new media than the ad spot - something I rumored to marttin sorrell the economist was debating the day before dads party as I worked for martin sorrell's office (the world's largest ad agency) for a couple of years at the turn of the century

CROSS CULTURAL FAST TRACK

5.1
but I should say that for a lot of reasons that have emerged for my first 20 meetings with yunus -including leaflets that got sat on when dad wanted to do one with yunus on good news economics in time to help youth celebrate obamas inauguration and change wall street forever, we have cleared this 10 times more economical and collaborative branding space than hans habituates :

5.2
our leaflets use a fast track process, without lamiya needing to approve on top of yunus approval and without zasheem's academic tax, without hans desugn beauty : the process in its informal stage - kickstarted as soon as you agree something mostofa and yunus just do it - and its gets printed as a small run, then you can re-edit it more formally;

5.3
and moreover naila's group knowing some imageful is coming can think of a way to put it near a top of a home page rather than many pages underneath in the web - and hey presto we are all can enjoy whole purpose dramatising how to co-create the last sb chapter 'time is now' with youth viralising scoops that mass media including the bbc will never know existed until they start sending their dragons den people to help animate local dragons den, and gareth malone to help monica orchestrate www.singforhope.org and perhaps even dads friends rupert murdoch can be rehabilitated in time to ask simon cowell to help youth bring job creating xfactors to olympics

5.4
and then maybe also : we can move from leafleting the greatest good news stories to doing with will wenders 8 part 2;

8 part 1 was launched 14 months ago with danone 3000 parisian youth - some of its story being at www.notimeleft.org

5.5
so particularly as mostofa and naila's team are here in dhaka for quite a long while but I am trekking back to dc in 30 hurs and -- it would help if you can do next leaflet step with mostofa before one works out what the whole leaflet's later versions need to be to institutionally represent you

best chris

Excellent idea – a ‘thought piece’ from the Yunus Centre?

I have had a further thought on the leaflets. This may come later, but a leaflet about Bangladeshi economics saving the West might be fun to do. Creation of Social Business Cities etc.

If inappropriate for this series, then just ignore,

Dear Mostofa

I hope your visit and meetings will go well. Please pass our very best wishes to Professor Yunus. We are all thinking of him and his family.

We will be working on a draft of the proposed nurse education leaflet that we discussed with Chris this week. There is a great deal of follow up from our recent visit to Washington, but we will get this to you just as soon as we can.

Regards

Colin

Hi Colin and Cam:

I have already landed in Dhaka to join Chris to do several meetings with Muhammad Yunus.

Do you have any update on leaflets of nursing college paradigm as Chris discussed with you in washington last week?

Following the inaugural issue celebrating Norman macrae by the economist, we have already edited the solar issue sampling to sarah butler sloss to open up the possibility of social business in london by colse collaboration with sarah - the sainsbury family. We will explore more on how to work with it this week in dhaka.

I am playing with an idea that Mostofa is making operational of a series of 10 leaflets on Entrepreneurial Bangladesh - much is common to each leaflet (eg Congress speeches on America's urgent need to understand Yunus microbanking and network design) but the front cover varies as does the context of a top 10 social action to invest in helping youth progress through 2010s

do you think we could re-edit the energy leaflet (where yunus doubling goal with solar energy units installed reaches 1 million by end 2011) that is attached to one we could publish on end nurseless villages with the nursing college as the paradigm?

I am thinking that this series of leaflets use-by date can run to end 2013 (Bangladesh's next elections date); in conjunction with internationally building the Yunus Fund as the world's largest co-investment fund in youth. I see leaflets as something that people like sarah butler-sloss (Lord Sainsbury's daughter whose family philanthropies are offering Yunus space top network out of London) can hand around to try and find people at her level who have a top 10 youth goal to co-invest in, as well as search for twin nation parthers of - eg Japan clearly wants to twin with the best of microenergy solutions as a matter of national economic survival. If we can test market exciting-goal leaflets the great and the good like collecting, their chance of viralising on net is high too.

The leaflets can also make an attractive display board in hub spaces where entrepreneurs of a future capital meet. We can consider co-leafleting - eg Entrepreneurial Africa what is the number 1 youth connecting goal of 2010s of google's Africa program and how do we leaflet it? (Footnote)

London intends to use the 12 months prior to the olympic games to hunt out who wants to celebrate worldwide socilal action goals with ceremonies the week before the olympics - a sort of royal command performance of the most economic philantropy partners of the net generation. A special journal of social business on lives of commonwealth (which European Royals vote for as mlst exciting cases) is also in the works for that publication date. In line with specification by Yunus, we also have a good news social business portal being developed by Naila and Grameen Solutions where youth and practice journalists of the 10 most exciting goals can continuously feature good news.

Depending on whether needed I see a Norman Macrae Foundation dialogue happening somewhere on each goal before end 2013 - each dilaogue in a different future capital

A little more on the context of Yunus Fund and Ending Nurseless vilages needs to be co-edited round links at http://socialbusiness.crowdmap.com/reports/view/107 The last chapter of yunus social business book 2 advocated the future now ideology I believe in - set the visions, benchmark open solutions and we are now net-connected enough to double up progress annually if we are uniting investments in a sustainable franchise. Nursing colleges seem to me to be the biggest single apprenticeship focus within the free university idea that lesley's johannesburg friend taddy blecher also did a lot to pioneer. Moreover Obama made a bold promise to end death by malaria by 2015 - that he has no chance of begining to reach without accelerating training of nurses.

I am trying to build an entrepreneurial retrospective of my father's 4000 articles at http://normanmacrae.ning.com/forum/topics/norman-macrae-books-surveys Economics can be joyful when designed the community sustaining way round

I dont know barbara's email - please pass on mail if relevant

chris macrae

FOOTNOTE
when you think of a cross between sports bar and planet hollywood formats, why not a bangladeshi collaboration cafe space - with wall to wall screens of good news projects and where youth can linkin celebraing girl effect - starbucks and whole food and nike and BBC and Yunus Fund are you ready for net generation's most exciting social space format?
