The role of biodiversity in enabling modern human quality of life is routinely ignored in prevailing economic and financial analysis. It has existed and has been free and free for the taking for most of human history, and this vast pool of knowledge has been plundered at will since time immemorial.
TPB Note: Many modern wonder drugs have existed in nature way before their medicinal properties were commercialized by corporate drug companies. Benefits that once were available 'for free' are now protected by an impenetrable wall of intellectual property rights that enable IP owners to profit.
