Some, of course, will never work ... but many can be the basis of initiatives that will help to make the world a better place.
Sadly, many good ideas ... indeed most ... will never be used because they are poorly communicated and never funded.

More education and there are more ideas ... but the conversion of ideas into initiatives and organizations that are able to make the world a better place is not easy.
One of the big problems is that financing for the development of ideas that do good for society or the environment without at the same time creating economic profit is almost impossible to obtain. To the extent that financing for this sort of project is available, it has to come from the philanthropic world, which usually does not have sufficient capacity to get the job done.

In my experience there are many very nice people on this planet ... many who have a very different background and life experience to my own ... who would welcome a better quality of life and be very grateful for it.
There is also amazing technology, very little of which is being used to make the world a better place.
When nice people are anabled to have a better quality of life using amazing modern technology, the world can be a far better place.
But this requires a change in thinking by many of those that currently have control of both money and politics.
Progress is possible ... but it will take perseverance.

THINKERS ... WHERE IDEAS COME FROM

There are many thinkers ... many associated with well known academic institutions, others who are independent.
Truly independent thinking is not easy, because there are strong disincentives to any change in the conventional wisdom.
Some of these disincentives come from the way peer review works
Other disincentives come from inappropriate linkage between the researcher and the source of funding for the research.
