The participation of every individual in the human civilization, supporting society in all the ways they can, is similar to the role of any plant or tree in a forest: unaccounted individually, but fundamental in the overall ecosystem. Rather than talking about Universal Basic Income, in a world of extreme automation, it may be useful to think about Universal Basic Wealth (UBW). UBW is the measure of the dividend that our being part of society generates, and it is not conditioned on the economic output that we have created in any given month, it is not going down with increased automation, but it has the potential of actually going up.
